Dr. Jamie Marich

Articles & Personal Insights

Hi there, this is Jamie! On this version of my website I wanted to include a couple of pieces that are more personal. Too often I strive to put my best professional foot forward on these kinds of media, yet most of my work is driven by personal relationships and getting to know each other in a human way. So here is a bit about Jamie, not "Dr. Marich":

Born: In Youngstown, OH; aside from the 3 years that I lived in Bosnia-Hercegovina from 2000-2003, I've called the Youngstown-Warren area home my whole life!

Interests: yoga (study in several traditions), dance, movies, theater, books, foodie, long talks with interesting people, travel, figure skating (former competitor, now a super fan), Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (earned a Women Empowered PInk Belt in 2017)

Favorite Movie: Absolutely too many to name, particularly because my tastes range from international independent films to absurd comedies (I can quote "Wayne's World" from start to finish)

Favorite Book: Although I'm tempted to bail out and say too many to name, there are three books that had a great impact on my life both personally and professionally: Our Guys by Bernard Lefkowitz, The Gift of Therapy by Irvin Yalom, and The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

Favorite Place I've Traveled: In the U.S., it's a tie between Maui, Big Sur, and Montana; internationally, Dubrovnik, Croatia (what can I say, I am partial to my ancestral homeland)

Passions: Living authentically; Helping people feel good about the bodies they inhabit and shed the judgments of the world; this is a major reason why taking part in body diversity shoots (e.g., aerial yoga, pinup, boudoir) is very important to me.
